Audio Precision Launches Version 8.0 of its Acclaimed APx500 Measurement Software
Significant test time savings and much faster reporting of important measurement are the key features of this exciting upgrade. This update is for new and current customers of APx500 software that are interested in faster measurements.
APx500 software version 8.0 adds new enhancements suited to a wide range of audio test applications, whether analog, digital, or acoustic:
- THD+N results using the FastSweep stimulus in Continuous Sweep, Acoustic Response, and Loudspeaker Production Test.
- Software performance optimizations that reduce unnecessary computation and accelerate sequence execution. By optimizing your sequences, including using FastSweep instead of traditional stepped frequency sweeps, removing unused measurement results, and minimizing the filmstrip during sequence execution, you may realize as much as a 40% savings in test time compared to prior versions of APx.
- Updates to Bose® SoneTrac allows users to make SoneTrac measurements in the same way as Bose to experience more refined control over signal processing in the detection of rub and buzz defects.
Release 8.0 is compatible with all analyzers in the APx500 Series, however an APx KeyBox is required to run all software on Legacy APx analyzers.

Software Licensing FAQ
Do I need to purchase APx500 audio measurement software?
Beginning with release 5.0, APx500 software must be purchased. As of November 30th, 2021, version 7.0 is the current release of APx500 audio measurement software, and is shipping with all new APx audio analyzers.
When I buy a new instrument, does that include a software license?
Yes, new instruments include a license for the current release with no change in base instrument price. Version 6.0 is the current release of APx500 audio measurement software and is shipping with all new APx audio analyzers. New units also include one year of software maintenance, licensing that instrument for APx version 7.0 when it is released, as well as any minor releases that occur between versions 6.0 and 7.0. Release 6.0 is compatible with all analyzers in the APx500 Series, however an APx KeyBox is required to run v6.0 on Legacy APx analyzers.
What is the difference between a software upgrade and a software maintenance contract?
A software upgrade purchases a license to upgrade a single APx analyzer to a specific version of software. Adding a software maintenace contract to the upgrade authorizes that same analyzer for the next major release at a discount (compared to upgrading at the time of the next major release).
