Don't miss out on our webinar: Cyber-Physical Power System (CPPS) Co-simulation on Operational Level for HIL with a Focus on Cyber-security Use Cases, featuring esteemed guest speakers János Csatár, Senior Lecturer from Budapest University of Technology and Economics alongside industry experts Louis RAYMOND and Mehrdad Kazemtabrizi from OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES.
Today’s power grid is a complex critical infrastructure that heavily relies on automation and remote operation, so forming a cyber-physical power system, a holistic approach is a must to capture the interdependency of cyber and physical domains in such systems.
This webinar is based on a research project that aims to create a HIL-capable co-simulated environment with a focus on cyber-attack use cases. The developed model uses RT-LAB and EXata simulation frameworks; in addition, it also incorporates physical devices and custom software that are connected to the real-time co-simulation in a HIL fashion, creating a holistic testbed environment. The showcased approach and example results give an overview of how cutting-edge simulation could be leveraged.
Panelists:
János Csatár
Senior Lecturer·Budapest University of Technology and Economics
János Csatár received a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in 2019. Since 2019, he has been an assistant professor in the Smart Power Laboratory (SPL), Department of Electrical Power Engineering, Budapest University of Technology and Economics. His research interest for the Ph.D. was power system modeling with a special focus on distribution systems, which has since further evolved into a focus on hardware-in-the-loop simulation, co-simulation, and interdependence of power systems and communication networks. Some of his current research projects include creating co-simulated cyber-physical power system models for holistic cyber-security studies.
Louis Raymond
Go-to-Market Manager, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS·OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES
Louis RAYMOND graduated with a Master 2 in Signal Processing and Acoustics from INSA Lyon (France) in 1997. Since then, he has held numerous technical and commercial positions throughout his career, successively as technical support and training engineer, pre-sales engineer, and business development manager, for various market-leading software editors such as MathWorks, Maplesoft, IPG Automotive, and OPAL-RT, which he joined in 2019, with a continued focus on modeling and HIL real-time simulation/test solutions.
Since the end of 2023, he has been part of the Go To Market department at OPAL-RT Technologies, developing and promoting to engineers and researchers, real-time testing software for Cyber-Physical Systems - power systems and communication networks, facilitating the cybersecurity testing and identifying/resolving vulnerabilities to new threats such as cyberattacks on power systems.
