Sound Quality Metrics

Analysis, Evaluation and Classfication of Acoustic Patterns in Benchmarking, Product Development and End-of-Line Scenarios

18th November 2025

Presented by: Dipl.-Ing. Fabian Kamp | Senior Project Manager, HEAD acoustics Engineering Services

background

So-called Sound Quality Metrics are used in various applications today, modelling the perceived Sound Quality of a product by instrumental analysis methods. Being able to predict the acoustic quality of a final product, a certain prototype modification, or a simulated design change, Sound Quality Metrics are considered a relevant tool in acoustic development. When embedded in End-of-Line scenarios, SQ Metrics succeed in ensuring the acoustic quality of a product. Needless to say, any benchmarking campaign with focus on human perception gains validity when being supported by such instrumental analysis methods. This online seminar presents the approach of developing Sound Quality Metrics by using Machine Learning techniques

Closing the Gap Between Test and Simulation

Accelerating Development by Using Hybrid Approaches

25th November 2025

Presented by: Eduard Grossmann, M. Sc. | Project Engineer, HEAD acoustics Engineering Services

background _1_

The investigation of NVH phenomena in modern products requires an integrated approach combining advanced experimental and numerical methods. The vibroacoustic transmission path from excitation sources through structural dynamics to perceived sound radiation is a fundamental aspect of NVH analysis. Beginning with practical examples and extending to industry-relevant cases like e-bikes, the approach highlights the influence of structural properties, resonance phenomena, and modal analysis techniques. Measurement optimization, model updating, and the use of hybrid models form the core of effective workflows. Within this online seminar, insights into NVH analysis workflows and modeling strategies to enhance noise and vibration are discussed.
